TUC calls on FG to hasten action on CONFAB’s report

(NIGERIA) The Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Thursday called on the Federal Government to hasten the implementation of the just concluded National CONFAB   to serve as roadmap which will guide the country’s journey to nationhood, if implemented.

TUC’s President, Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama,  in his new year message told Nigerians to be prepared to take up the challenges confronting them as a result of the ongoing austerity measure introduced by the Government in December 2014, stating that the just concluded National Conference in Abuja could be the beginning a new nationhood should the Government implement the recommendations made by the delegates,

He said: “We call on the Federal Government not to use the coming election as an excuse to delay the implementation of the CONFAB’s report, but to hasten and ensure that efforts of the 492 men and women that gathered  to produce a blueprint that is expected to serve as roadmap which will guide the country’s journey to nationhood if implemented, is not in vein”

According to Kaigama, Nigerians are eagerly waiting to see the implementation of the outcome of the Conference especially now that the nation is fully in preparation for the 2015 general elections.

“We as labour practitioners are prepared to ensure that the Conference report does not end up in trash cans like reports  of other Conferences set up in the past,” he said. (DAILY INDEPENDENT)
