APC's take on religious leaders

It can be said, that the warning issued on clerics today, by Nigeria's main opposition party; the All Progressives Congress (APC), that they should desist from circulating inciting statements, smacks off insult on the temple of God in the country.

If there is any institution that should be cautioned in this direction, APC should be number one.

This is because, the opposition party had on several occasion made inciting statements even against the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN).

The opposition APC in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed said   religious leaders across Nigeria should stop using religion as a tool to divide the people, especially in the name of politics.

The APC scribe further stated that the warning became necessary following what it termed the false messages being  circulated, that adherents of a certain religion were being killed in a part of the country and their houses of worship burnt today, when nothing of such happened.

According to Mohammed, "After receiving the text message, we investigated and discovered that nothing of such happened today, Saturday, January 17, 2015.

"Those who peddled such incendiary messages are liars from hell and agents of evil.

"The purveyors of such false alarm are capable of pitting adherents of the country’s two main religions against themselves and setting the country on fire.

"Those who will use religion to divide the citizens for political reasons are not men of God, whether they are Christians or Muslims. They are agents of darkness and posterity will not be kind to them."
