I am of the strong contention, that Nigeria's main opposition political party; the All Progressives Congress (APC), is actually out to mislead the entire Nigerians.
This is because, rather than deal with issues that are of great consequence to their ambition, all the party does is to chase shadows.
Before now, the academic competence of APC's presidential candidate, Mohammadu Buhari has been a subject of query and yet the party is not doing anything practicable to get the problem solved.
Instead, all the party does is to come up with all manner of defense that cannot even be accepted by a nursery school pupil.
Only recently, the Lagos State governor who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Babatunde Fashola at the party's rally in Ikorodu area of the state, described the academic degrees of the presidential flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Goodluck Jonathan and his running mate, Namadi Sambo as meaningless.
This position of Fashola to me is worrisome because for a man like the Lagos State governor, one expects that he should appreciate the importance of being educated.
But this same Fashola and other APC chieftains have refused to make Buhari realise the implication of not getting his credentials submitted alongside his application form to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
To be specific, Fashola argued that President Jonathan’s doctorate degree and Vice President Sambo’s degree in architecture have not reflected positively in their style of governance.
The Lagos State governor also maintained that the standard of living and security of Nigerians had worsened since Jonathan took over power despite being the first doctorate degree holder to become President of Nigeria.
In the words of Fashola, "When the President, a PhD holder, assumed office, rather than improve the standard of living of the citizens, we were having regression. His vice is an architect but he cannot construct roads.
"But it is saddening that a lawyer is the Commissioner for Works in Edo State and he has constructed several roads. In Ogun State, the Commissioner for Works is an architect and he has built several roads.
"Let us ask Vice President Sambo what has he done for the nation. All he (Sambo) could do was to inform the President that people are leaving Lagos because of the state tax regime. And I want everyone to ask the vice president if the number of vehicles coming into Lagos has reduced."
