Buhari's mad sermon

I laughed when I read in the national dailies today, the comment credited to the Presidential candidate of Nigeria's main opposition party; All Progressives Congress (APC), retired Major General Mohammadu Buhari, urging his supporters to shun all forms of electoral violence.

If one is to quote him rightly, the APC presidential candidate said, "In particular, you must learn to be vigilant especially just before, during and immediately after elections, whether elections are rigged or not.

"This is necessary so that sponsored hoodlums do not have chance to commit illegalities and in the end, members of the group are blamed.

"Not only must you not take the law into your hands no matter the level of provocation, you must be able to expose those planning to do so before the act.

"My supporters must not engage in any kind of behaviour or conduct that will tarnish the image of any leader or promote division and rancour within the ranks of the party. Whoever does that should know that he or she is working for the enemy."

Now the question I ask myself is this; is Buhari really qualified to issue this kind of advice in view of the fact that, this same Buhari promised to make Nigeria ungovernable when he lost gallantly to incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2011 presidential election.

He didn't stop at that, he went further to insult the Supreme Court of Nigeria when it upheld the victory of Jonathan.
