INEC: Advocating for physically challenged people

It is worth commending, the position of Nigeria's  Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), calling on all Nigerians to give considerations to voters that are challenged physically, during the 2015 polls.

This goes to show, that the commission is doing all possible to ensure electorates of voting age are giving the opportunity to exercise their franchise.

Precisely, Resident Electoral Commission (REC) in Osun State, Adekunle Oladipo, today in Osogbo posited that
the youths and other able bodied voters should allow those living with disabilities to go for their accreditation first and they should also be allowed to cast their votes before others.

The REC said, "The commission has put in place so many plans to ensure that the physically challenged people  are not disenfranchised in compliance with section 56 of the 2010 Electoral Act.

"The physically challenged people constitute over 18 millions of the Nigerian Population based on statistics, and if we should ignore them in the election, it may cause a lot of damage to their feelings, therefore the commission says both the physically challenged people and the aged stand a chance to vote.

"The youths and other able bodied voters should allow the physically challenged to vote first. We should consider their conditions and assist them to also exercise their franchise."
