I can argue conveniently, that the peace pact signed in Abuja, Nigeria yesterday by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Goodluck Jonathan, that of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mohammadu Buhari alongside other presidential aspirants is a sheer waste of time.
It is clear, that the said peace pact cannot even hold water, and it remains a mirage. One would expect these politicians to extend a
hand of friendship to the people.
Rather, what they do is dishing out money to hoodlums and printing posters. Politicians think Nigerians are fools and can be deceived.
According to the undertaken signed before eminent personalities which included; former Secretary General of the United Nations, Dr. Kofi Annan, and former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, all the presidential candidates of the parties, agreed to desist from campaigns that could involve religious incitement, ethnic or tribal profiling and to get their agents to toe similar line.
They also agreed to, "Re frain from making, or causing to make our names or that of our party, any public statements, pronouncements, declarations or speeches that have the capacity to incite any form of violence, before, during and after the elections."
