Buhari not Nigeria’s saviour, says Faseun

(NIGERIA) National Chairman of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), Dr. Fredrick Faseun, has affirmed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, is not the saviour Nigeria has been waiting for.

Faseun stated this while addressing newsmen  in Lagos on Thursday  stressing that General Buhari has been often painted as the Messiah Nigerians have been waiting for, adding that “this is turning truth and logic on the head.

“General Buhari has often been painted as the Messiah Nigerians have been waiting for. This is turning truth and logic on the head. For the avoidance of doubt, General Muhammadu Buhari is not the saviour Nigeria has been waiting for. The truth is that under Buhari’s “Holier-than-thou” facade lurks a smelly throat of evil.”

Faseun stated further that when he lost the 2011 polls, General Buhari again took up arms against democracy, through fueling insurgency and terrorism, he and his supporters had sworn to make Nigeria ungovernable should Jonathan win the election.

“Instead of standing for election, General Muhammadu Buhari should in fact be standing trial before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for crimes against humanity over the killing of thousands of Nigerians in the ongoing insurgency and terrorism instigated by him and his supporters,” he said.

He however said  2015 is an election year in Nigeria and that the next one or two months will be crucial to the progress and health of the nation, adding that it will decide whether Nigeria will continue as one nation or smash into smithereens, as prophesied by the superpowers.

Fasehun noted that today, Nigeria staggers under a weight of insurgency and terrorism that is very alien to the nation’s ethnic and national  character.

Insurgency and terrorism descended on Nigerians in the wake of the 2011 elections, after politicians of a particular coloration swore to make the country ‘ungovernable’ should they lose the polls. When Nigerians massively rejected these politicians at the polls, these bad losers made good their threats and unleashed the dogs of war through the North-Eastern part of the country.

Speaking further, he urged Nigerians to review the political languages of Buhari and Jonathan, adding that Nigerians must remember that a nation that turns its back on its history will never see development.

“Having weighed all this, UPN has decided to speak up for democracy- democracy without coercion. This is because Nigeria is not the patrimony of any single individual, and no single person can hold the entire nation to ransom,” he said. (DAILY INDEPENDENT)
