Nigeria's opposition political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), today declared that the performance of the party's presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari in Chatham House, London where he had gone to deliver lecture has set aside any doubt, that Buhari was ready to save Nigeria from its current woes.
The party therefore described the lecture as world class, with an addition that the presidential candidate used the opportunity to explain how he intended to fight Boko Haram should he become the President of Nigeria.
According to the chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the party, Dr. Davies Ikanya, the performance of Buhari shows that he had what it would require to win the forthcoming presidential election come March 28, 2015.
Ikanya said, "Whatever doubt that might have existed in anybody’s mind about Buhari’s readiness to rescue Nigeria from the low depths to which it has been dragged by President Goodluck Jonathan has surely been erased by the General’s acclaimed outing at the Royal Institute for International Affairs, Chatham House, London, on Thursday.
"Buhari’s speech was world class, as readily testified by the packed audience that included British politicians, diplomats, journalists and a wide cross-section of Nigerians.
"The event’s chairman, former British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Sir Richard Gozney, aptly captured the Buhari persona when he described him as ‘a man of modesty, unusual for a Nigerian politician, and having clarity of thoughts and speech’.
"The success of the well-celebrated event demonstrates the international acceptance of General Buhari as the next President of Nigeria."
Ikanya asked President Jonathan to start preparing his handover notes, adding that nothing will save him (Jonathan) from defeat on March 28, 2015.
He added that, "We urge Nigerians to collect the money as it is their money that was misappropriated and looted but vote him (Jonathan) out for the collective greater future of our country.
"President Jonathan should be man enough and prepare himself for his defeat and face the election without looking for any shortcut to stay a day longer as the President of Nigeria as Nigerians are fed up with his visionless administration."
