Senator Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman has congratulated the winner of Kogi Central senatorial poll, Senator Mohammed Ohiare of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the entire people of Ebiraland for the peaceful conduct of the presidential and National Assembly elections in the district.
Abatemi-Usman sought to return to the Senate on the platform of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), a party he joined after quitting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
However, the APC candidate, Senator Ohiare emerged winner at the end of the contest.
In a statement issued by Michael Jegede, his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Abatemi-Usman said the peaceful atmosphere under which the exercise was conducted was a clear indication that Ebira people have come to fully embrace peace.
He urged them to continue to remain peaceful by eschewing violence of any kind.
Wishing Ohiare the very best in office, Abatemi-Usman, who totally supported General Muhammadu Buhari, the candidate of the APC for the presidential election, thanked the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District for the opportunity given him to serve as their Senator.
The Vice Chairman Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs also commended the Prof. Attahiru Jega-led Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its transparency and fairness in the conduct of election.
