2015 POLLS: JEGA HOLDS MEETING WITH SERVICE CHIEFS, IGP

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor  Attahiru Jega, on Saturday night held a closed-door session with the National Peace Committee for 2015 General Elections, headed by former head of state, retired General Abdulsalami Abubakar over the elections.

Those in attendance at the meeting are the service chiefs which included; the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Vice Marshal Alex Badeh; the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Suleiman Abba, and leadership of the major political parties.

Also in attendance is the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar 111; Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan ; Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah; former Chief of General Staff, Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe; Special Adviser to the President on Inter- Party Relations, Senator Ben Obi.

At the end of the meeting, former Chief Judge (CJ) of the Federal High Court, Justice Rose Ukeje informed press men that both INEC and the security agencies had re-affirmed their commitment to conduct the elections as scheduled.
