CARD READER MACHINES: COURT THROWS OUT SUIT AGAINST INEC

Justice Ademola Adeniyi of an Abuja Federal High Court, today refused to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), from utilising the Smart Card Reader Machines for the presidential election slated for  tomorrow.

Specifically, the judge in his ruling filed by a Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Ogun State,‎ Walihu Taiwo,
declined to grant an order of interim injunction against INEC
from employing the technology for the presidential poll.

Instead, the court issued a summons on both INEC and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN), to appear before the court on April 24 to address it on the legality or otherwise of the use of the card readers for a general election.

However, the judge declared that if the court eventually discovers that the use of the card readers were illegal and unconstitutional, he would not ‎hesitate to annul the outcome of the general elections.
