EKITI ELECTION: SOME SOLDIERS ARE PREPARED TO TESTIFY TO RIGGING, FAYEMI INSISTS

Former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi has revealed that some soldiers are actually willing to testify on the leaked audio file on the way some chieftains of the ruling  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), allegedly conspired with the Nigerian military to rig the June 21, 2014 governorship election in the state.

It would be recalled that the audio file released by Sahara Reporters, gave details as to how the governorship flagbearer of the PDP and incumbent governor of the state, Ayodele Fayose; former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro; Senator Iyiola Omisore; Police Affairs Minister,  Jelili Adesiyan and the military allegedly rigged the election.

According to Fayemi, "We are taking every step to ensure this does not go unpunished. There are many soldiers willing to testify.

"There are many Captain Sagir Kolis who are willing to give evidence in the court of law. I am just appealing to all Nigerians to be patient as events unfold."

The former governor maintained that the All Progressives Congress (APC), would not allow in any form, militarisation of the election on the basis of the judgment delivered by a Federal High Court, Sokoto which held that it was wrong to use soldiers for electoral duties.

Fayemi further argued that, "We in the APC will not allow the use of the military to oversee the conduct of the elections because we know and we are aware that they have sown fake police uniforms, they have sown fake army uniforms but we will not allow them."
