CAMPAIGN PROMISE FULFILED, JONATHAN CLAIMS

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and incumbent Nigeria's president, Goodluck Jonathan today maintained that he had lived up to his campaign pledge to the country that he would make the power sector a priority for his administration.

Speaking at the commissioning of the 750MW Nigerian Integrated Power Project at the Olorunsogo II Power Station in Ogun State, Jonathan posited that, "I have lived up to my campaign pledge to make the power sector a priority. Although it is capital intensive to make a difference in the power sector, my administration had been tackling it headlong.

"The interface between 100 percent ownership of the power sector by government and 100 percent ownership by private sector will soon be over.

"In the next two years, Nigerians can take power sector for granted like it is obtainable in other countries."

Describing the power plant as the second largest NIPP power station in the country, Jonathan called on Nigerians to give  support to the Federal Government (FG) in its desire to improve electricity.
