2015 POLLS: APY RAISES ALARM OVER ALLEGED PLANS TO DESTABILISE LAGOS

A social political pressure group, Alliance of Progressives Youth (APY), has raised alarm alleging that a plan to destabilise Lagos State by some undesirable elements in the society before and during the 2015 general elections had been uncovered.

The group in a statement signed in Lagos by its Chairman of the Coordinating Council, Ayeni Ayomide Samuel, alleged that, "Some stooges of People Democratic Party (PDP) stalwarts in evil alliance with Oodua People Congress (OPC) have perfected plans to design t-shirts and symbol of All Progressives Congress (APC) with a view to wear them and cause unprecedented chaos especially among members of NURTW in other to present the APC as being violent with the sole objective of reducing the rising popularity.

"This plan was being hatched in a meeting held in Lagos on Sunday by PDP stalwarts and leaders of both factions of OPC. The objectives of their plans is to cause crisis of an unimaginable dimension that could either lead to cancellation of the coming elections in Lagos or lead to declaring a state of emergency that may finally call for postponement of the election due to the important role of Lagos in the Nigerian political atmosphere.

"The popularity of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos as well as the unbeatable records of experience of its candidate seem to be incurable ailment of the evil planners, having realised that their presidential candidate is unsellable and own governorship candidate is a faceless material that has no chance of winning a single local government in the state.

"Any attempt to destabilise Lagos State where people are enjoying undeniable dividends of democracy to the maximum as well as any part of Nigeria would be resisted by all constitutional and democratic weapons at our disposal.

"Finally, the group urge the actualiser governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), to be more proactive more than ever to forestall any plans to cause mayhem in any part of the state."
