Apparently displaying his anger over the situation of things in the country, former Nigeria's president Olusegun Obasanjo today tore his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) membership card in the presence of guests who had apparently come to express their concern over his recent utterances against the administration of incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan, over the postponement of the 2015 general elections earlier slated to hold on February 14, 2015.
The guests who are PDP leaders from Obasanjo’s ward around his former residence in Ita Eko, where he registered had visited the former president at his Hilltop mansion in Abeokuta.
It would be recalled that Obasanjo had on Saturday alleged that President Jonathan is nursing a grand plan to truncate democracy in the country as a result of the poll shift, even as he accused the President of trying to win the presidential poll at all cost.
Specifically, the guests had visited, apparently to plead with Obasanjo to stop his criticisms of the incumbent president.
Besides, the PDP had also come to inform him of the feelers that they were getting that the leaders of the party were planning to expel him from the party.
The former president then requested to know if his guests were with their PDP membership card, and of which some of them produced.
Obasanjo thereafter requested for his own which was eventually brought to him.
The former president consequently issued a directive that the leader of the team should tear the cars into shreds, with a position that he was no longer a member of the ruling party.
