OSHIOMHOLE DESCRIBES BUHARI'S VICTORY AS A NEW DAWN

Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, today described as a new dawn, the victory of presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari as President-elect.

Oshiomhole stated in a statement that, "Let me congratulate you, Sir, on your historic victory at the presidential election, through a process which has been adjudged as free, fair and credible by both local and international observers.

"Indeed, your victory, on the basis of One Man, One Vote, represents a new dawn in the democratic governance of our great country.

"The spread of your victory across the length and breadth of the country shows your national acceptance as the man Nigeria needs at this critical stage to reposition her from the 16 years of misrule of the PDP.

"Despite the smear campaigns against your person and candidature and the attempts to polarise the country along ethnic and religious lines, Nigerians made a bold statement by speaking through their ballots that you are, indeed, the President they want at this time of our national history.

"I have implicit confidence that, with you as President, Nigeria will no doubt get a true and selfless leadership needed to drive the much-desired Change at the centre which will start the process of reengineering the country and halt the drift which the country had been plunged in the past 16 years.

"Your pedigree as a former Head of State and the indelible imprint you left at that time are still being felt across the country.

"Your doggedness and victory at the fourth attempt will serve as an inspiration to many, never to give up on a dream that is worth living.

"We congratulate all Nigerians on this historic victory, because this victory belongs not to General Buhari or the APC alone, but to all Nigerians who desire change.

"For us in Edo, the victory of General Buhari has effectively disconnected the oxygen which Abuja had provided for the godfathers in the past 16 years.

"I give kudos to President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat and congratulating the incoming President on his electoral victory.

"However, just like Abraham Lincoln said: elections belong to the people. It’s their decision."

The All Progressives Congress (APC), today urged all its members and supporters across the country to remain calm and peaceful, and to resist all acts of provocation as they await the results of the

"The agents of disunity are on the prowl, ready to trigger trouble and destabilise
the country, hence they must not play into the hands of such people.

KEEPING A DREAM BIGGER THAN US ALL

By Pastor Taiwo Odukoya

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. (1 Corinthians 13:11)

As Nigerians and the rest of the world wait for the announcement of the results of Saturday’s presidential elections, it is important we understand that this is not a zero-sum game.

Regardless of the outcome of the elections, there are no losers. It is a victory for democracy and a victory for us all if the will of the people prevail.

Those who have put themselves up for public office in engagement of the democratic process are applauded. There are people from the North to the South who have gone out to vote for you because they believe in you.

That is a victory in itself. What we must do now is follow the spirit of the democratic process to the end as we receive the results.

The words of Senator John McCain, in conceding victory to Barack Obama in the contentious 2008 American elections are worthy of note here: "I urge all Americans who supported me to join me in not just congratulating him, but offering our next president our good will and earnest effort to find ways to come together, to find the necessary compromises, to bridge our differences, and help restore our prosperity, defend our security in a dangerous world, and leave our children and grandchildren a stronger, better country than we inherited."

McCain’s speech, acknowledged by pundits for its grace is one worthy of emulation in regions where the wrong reaction to election results could mean the lives of many.

A 2005 study by Chaturvedi and Mukherji concludes that developing countries tend to see more election-time violence.

And the death of thousands in Kenya (2007), Cote d’ivoire (2010) and Nigeria (2011) clearly attests to this and the reasons for this are wide-ranging from high indebtedness in the course of running a campaign, etc. but be that as it may, Nigeria, in its 16th year as a democracy, has come a long way.

Too much has gone into holding this country together. Millions died in the civil war, thousands more died fighting for democracy, there are 60% desperately poor people, children and generations yet unborn deserving of a worthy future in a worthy land.

Nigeria is bigger than the ambitions of any one man, and the succeeding hours and days will test our maturity and resolve to deliver a better country for our children. There must be no bloodshed.

Whoever wins, whoever loses, whatever grievances may result, we must demonstrate our maturity and commitment to the democratic process by following the rule of law and resorting to the judiciary in any event.

Nigerians must realise that the fact that their candidate did not win does not equal the death of their tribe, religion, or ideology. We should be gallant losers and generous victors.

What we should be ready to do is throw our weight behind whoever wins. This includes full frontal support and constructive criticism. The only valid goal is a united and stronger Nigeria. Nothing else matters.

The world watches Nigeria with bated breath. Let us prove to ourselves and to them that the worst of us is behind us. There is a greater Nigeria ahead of us.

We must resist every inclination to the contrary and shun every aggravation that could culminate in violence. We can be civil. We can be mature. We can realise the potential for greatness that is locked within us. Nigeria Has a Great Future.

RIVERS INEC OFFICE STORMED, AS ANGRY APC SUPPORTERS DEMAND FRESH ELECTIONS

There is however, the presence of heavily-armed security personnel at INEC office while others patrolled the roads leading into the area.

There are high tension as  the protesters were said to have declared that elections did not hold in  most polling units in Rivers yesterday.

APC ACCUSED OF POSTING FAKE ELECTION RESULTS

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), today urged Nigerians to completely disregard what it termed misleading figures allegedly being circulated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the social media as results of the Presidential and National Assembly elections in some polling booths.

National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh in a statement insisted that the figures were, "Fake and do not represented the true results which are currently being collated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the only body authorised to release and announce results.

"The APC in its desperation for power has resorted to posting fake results in the social media in a bid to ambush the electoral commission, mislead the unsuspecting public to believe it is winning, all in furtherance of its grand plot to cause confusion and set the stage for violence when the authentic results are finally released.

"We therefore alert Nigerians to be on their guard and close ranks in resisting the APC’s plot to plunge the nation into chaos and anarchy.

"Our democracy has come to stay and the will of the people must prevail over and above the parochial ambition of a selfish few.

"Finally, we strongly caution the APC against its acts of desperation and use of dishonest methods including physical attacks against our members and supporters as these pose great threat to our democracy, the unity and stability of our dear nation."

DONT ANNOUNCE FAKE ELECTION RESULTS, APC WARNS

Nigeria's main opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), today issued a warning against what it termed any attempt totamper with the results of the elections that were concluded nationwide on Saturday.

The party also said Nigerians have voted peacefully and massively and they know who they have voted for.

APC in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, argued that it has the authentic results from every polling unit where voting took place on Saturday,
and will not accept anything contrary to those signed results.
The party equally frowned at what it termed dangerous kite now being flown by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), through some of their paid media channels, which sought to appropriate unearned victories across the nation.

According to Mohammed, "We have always said we will accept the result of any free, fair and transparent elections.

"We stand by that avowal. However, what we will not accept - and which we are sure Nigerians themselves will reject, is any move to rewrite the results and thwart the will of the people under any guise. We will not accept that.

''We have heard of the desperate moves to cancel the results in areas where the APC has beaten the PDP embarrassingly. Nigerians will definitely not accept that."

The opposition party equally raised the alarm that it is aware of the ongoing efforts to force Electoral Officers and Presiding Officers in Imo State, some of whom are being picked up by the military as we write, to rewrite the results of the elections in the state.

The statement further argued that, "We have the results from every polling unit in Imo State and we know that we have won in over 80 per cent in the presidential election. So there must be no shenanigans."

Mohammed further stated that the same attempts are being made in Sokoto, Enugu, Ekiti, Ondo, Lagos and other states, just as he wondered why anyone will be seekint to reverse the results that are already settled.

According to him, "In the Nsukka Local Government Area, INEC officials, instead of collating results, handed over the exercise to PDP Nsukka zone towrite.

"They holed up inside ADADA HOUSE (a Local Government guesthouse) to write results and change figures, and were provided with security by the police.

"APC candidates and agents were chased away. In collaboration with INEC, they refused to let the card readers function and no result sheets came to most polling booths.

''In Lagos, they have yet to announce the result of the Apapa Local Government which has been ready since yesterday, apparently in a move to manipulate the outcome. Those who voted will not agree with any attempt to steal their votes."

ELECTIONS: HOW ARMY RIGGED FOR RULING PARTY- OSHIOMHOLE

Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole has stated that the military compromised and were in many cases used to chase away voters.

Speaking shortly after casting his vote at 5:58pm at Unit 1, Ward 10, Iyamho, Oshiomhole argued that, "There are disturbing stories in many places. The Army has been used in a very criminal way to harass, intimidate and beat up voters in many units.

For example at Fugar, our officers there were beaten up. They were going to take them away and the people were able to resist them. They went to another unit within the same Fugar, beat up people there, arrested the Local Government Chairman and took him away to the barracks on the order of General Odidi.

"In Auchi, everything was going well. They started counting and it was clear that APC was winning the Presidency, Senate and the House of Reps.

"To my surprise, the man that I respect so much, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi who I regard as a brother brought troops to Auchi, attacked women, beat up elderly people, attacked the electorate and disrupted elections at Auchi once they saw that the result being announced so far favored APC and favored Buhari.

"Dokpesi brought Army from nowhere. I don’t know when Dokpesi became commander in chief of the Army to have such rights. You have seen me, I am the Governor of this state and with all humility I am the number one citizen of the state but I am abiding by the rules which say that there is restriction of movement, that is why I am here at my polling unit.

"I have vehicles, I have bodyguards, I have even ordinary people who I can carry along to anywhere but as a leader I have to show example.

"Even when they delayed the supply of materials to 2pm, our people waited. Now I don’t understand how Dokpesi has suddenly become an extremist using soldiers to hit at women, using soldiers to hit at elderly people, using soldiers to drive away electorate so that they can write result sheets.

"I am ashamed of him and I think it is a sad day for Nigeria because for people like that, I think they have the greatest stake in democracy. I don’t know what his contract is that he had to go this far to do this very dirty job but I do not think it will change what God has willed.

"In Igueben, I have just been told that once they again saw that they were losing, Tom Ikimi invited the Army and the Army responded and they were beating up women, beating up the elderly.

I emphasise women because as you can see from here, they just sat down, they are patient, they want to exercise their right. The men might be tired and leave but they will stay there.

"The good thing is that the voters are not fighting. In all cases, I have not heard where I am told the police are harassing people, it is the Army that is beating people, it is the Army that Dokpesi is using.

"In Edo South we are also having all kind of stories. In many cases, they didn’t bring result sheets. In Akoko Edo in some Units they didn’t bring result sheet which makes voting difficult.

"In many areas they refused to vote until the result sheet comes. In Ovia North East and Ovia South West, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion who is a registered voter in Oredo, today he has been everywhere in ovia North East and Ovia South West, sharing money on election day under the supervision of the Nigeria Police.

"I have called the Commissioner of Police and I said, who gave Esama Policemen to be moving from one Local Government, from one Ward to another, from one booth to another in Ovia North East and Ovia South West.

"As the Governor of Edo State, I have chosen to be here. It is the sensible thing to do, to obey the law. Yes, Igbinedion’s daughter may be contesting but that does not give him the right to move around.

Even the candidate is not at liberty to move about freely. Now Igbinedion is moving around using policemen to harass and intimidate the electorate and surprisingly, each officer you call will say, oh I didn’t know.

"The policemen attached to him, are they from Esama’s republic? I think it is two conclusions I have reached. First which is very reassuring is that the Nigerian people have bought democracy, they have internalised the values of democracy.

"The ordinary man and woman wants democracy. However, the level of desperation on the part of PDP that they must return the ruling party to power in my view is extremely worrisome because if we wanted just continuity, we didn’t have to worry about military rule.

"Now people want to vote, they have a right to vote. It’s clear that some INEC officers too have been compromised. As you can see, the lady who is supposed to manage the election in this local government disappeared, the guy who is supposed to fix the card reader was nowhere to be found and as you can see, they would have stopped accreditation if I were not here.

"Across the state, there are stories like that and it is very shameful. In all cases, the turnout of the electorate is very good, people are enthusiastic.

"The ordinary people are not fighting, those causing trouble are men of the Nigerian Army who are beating up people and scattering ballot papers accompanied by chieftains of the PDP.

"INEC Officials in Orhiomwon completely compromised. No result sheets in any polling unit in Orhiomwon and the Electoral Officer have very silly stories to tell.

"Up to 11pm, 12 noon, election materials did not get to most parts of Orhiomwon and I had to complain to INEC authorities and they confirmed it.

"When they eventually brought the election materials, there were no result sheets and you know what that means is that you can be doing whatever you are doing, the person with the result sheet will sit somewhere and just write the result.

"So whatever you think you were going to achieve with the card reader or no card reader, they will simply write the result.

"I have been informed that Orhionwon has been cancelled because of these malpractices and maybe some areas where there were no result sheets we cannot certainly accept results from those areas.

"It’s a mixed reaction and it is quite shameful. As a Nigerian I thought that this time around we would say yes, we got it right but it doesn’t seem so. The Army has been a huge problem in this process, but the cheering news is that Buhari will still win."

ARREST, PROSECUTE JEGA NOW, LABOUR PARTY DECLARES

The labour Party (LP), has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega over what it termed over  what it termed the, "Total failure of the card reader for Saturday’s presidential election."

National Secretary of the party, Olukayode Ajulo described the poll as an election between the PDP and smart card reader.

He added that Jega should be blamed for  going ahead with the use of the card reader despite strong opposition from concerned stakeholders in the country on the problem that may emanate from the use of the cards.

Ajulo added that, "I think the election is between PDP and smart card reader. If I have my way, Professor Attahiru Jega ought to have been arrested and prosecuted.

"Because we raised this issue right from the  beginning that the card reader will fail. And it failed. This is the same Jega about six months ago that told everyone that Ekiti and Osun election are important elections to use card reader which they are not sure of.

"Then, how manage he now accepted to use card reader for presidential election. Honestly, the card reader failed woefully. Now, he now said they should use manual voter register in the last minute. Why didn’t he say that before?”

Ajulo warned Nigerians to desist from announcing fake unofficial results, saying Nigerians should not forget in a hurry what led to the post election violence in 2011.

He added that, "It is part of electoral offence for anyone to publish unofficial result. Let us wait for INEC to announce the result.

"I think that is part of what caused the post-election violence of 2011. People were posting unofficial results claiming that Buhari was leading, but by the time INEC released the official result and Jonathan won, many people resorted to violence thinking Buhari has been rigged out.

"So, I implore Nigerians to be cautious and allow INEC do their job."

ELECTIONS: PRESIDENTIAL VILLA WORKERS TIRED OF JONATHAN, ADEGBUYI INSISTS

Deputy Director- General of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun 2015 Campaign Organisation (SIACO),  Asiwaju Bisi Adegbuyi, today argued that the  result of Saturday’s polls in the polling units at the Presidential Villa, Abuja has indicated that workers At the presidential villa are frustrated with the  administration of President Goodluck Jonathan and are eager to see him hand over power come May 2015.

Adegbuyi consequently charged President Jonathan to be magnanimous enough to congratulate the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari when the official result is announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to him, "As for the result released in the Presidential Villa, Abuja that gave the APC  a clear lead, I will say that, that is democracy in action.

"It is a clear message to President Jonathan that Nigerians are really desirous of change. It also shows that people working with him in the villa don't want him to continue beyond May 2015."

"He should be magnanimous enough to congratulate General Muhammadu Buhari  when the official result is out.

"History will be kind to him and Nigerians will be kind to him. He should reject the evil advice of some hawks who will want him to do everything, no matter how evil to hang on to power at all cost.

"We all know that it is very difficult and it has never happened before for opposition party to  win a free and fair election in this country especially in the presidential election.

"But it will be on record that it happened under President Jonathan."

Adegbuyi further stated that contrary to impressions being created by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the card readers did not fail.

He said, "The card reader did not fail. The fact is that nobody was disenfranchised at the end of the day. The card has performed its function.

"It will be a disservice to the efforts of INEC  to say because the fingerprinting process did not work, the card reader has failed.

"On my part, the card reader did not recognise my fingerprint, yet I voted. It is mischievous for PDP to say they are justified. Justified for what?

"I listened to Yinka Odumakin saying the election is a sham. That is preposterous."

BODE GEORGE DESCRIBES CARD READER A CHARADE

Former deputy national chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, today insisted that the use of the card reader for the Presidential and National Assembly elections is a charade.

Speaking shortly after casting his vote at Evans square in Lagos Island, the PDP chieftain posited that the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to experiment the elections with the use of the card reader has failed.

According to him, "Professor Jega has a long way to go, there problems, the card readers are not working.

"In some areas, the card readers have not arrived, so there are problems. So, imagine if we have had to vote on February 14, it would have been worst.

"Let Jega come out clean because this election is so vital to the survival of this country and we are toying with it with an experimentation.

"This is a charade. In Badagry, we heard the INEC officials had to go back to pick up the ballot papers while in some places like Ojo and Amuwo Odofin, the officials have not arrived.

"I have told our people to remain calm and peaceful. But know that no election results will be announced where there are no card readers and ballot papers.

"This has overwhelmed the people who are managers of this election in Lagos State, you cannot blame them because you cannot give what you don’t have.

"People are becoming more enlightened because they have realised that their vote is their power and decide who would be their leader."

INEC EXTEND ELECTIONS TILL SUNDAY

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, today announced the extention of the presidential and national assembly election till Sunday where the elections were not held.

He therefore directed all Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) in the country to conduct the election in areas where there were hitches.

The INEC boss in a statement also directed that manual accreditation should be applied in areas that the Smart Card Readers malfunctioned during the Presidential and National Assembly elections in the country.

The statement reads: " INEC has been monitoring field reports on the accreditation process since commencement this morning.

"Whereas the process has gone well in several places, in some others it has encountered some challenges especially the card readers.

"Consequently, accreditation has been slow in many places and has not commenced at all in some others. Even though the guidelines for the 2015 general elections provide that where card readers fail to work and cannot be replaced, elections in such PUs will be postponed to the next day.

"The scale of the challenge we have observed has necessitated a reconsideration of the provision of the guidelines.  The Commission has therefore decided that in PUs where card readers fail to work, the Presiding Officer shall manually accredit voters.

"The Presiding Officer shall mark the voters register upon being satisfied that the person presenting a PVC is the owner.

"Notwithstanding, in PUs where accreditation was suspended to the next day in accordance with the guidelines, arrangements will be made for voters to vote tomorrow, subject to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010.

"The Commission reassures the public that it will thoroughly investigate what happened while it stays committed to credible elections."

INSECURITY: INEC STOPS VOTING IN DELTA COMMUNITY

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), today announced the suspension of elections in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, after the police insisted that it could no longer guarantee security in the area.

Speaking in Agbor, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Anidi Ikowak, argued that some stakeholders in the area frustrated electoral officers from moving  voting materials to polling units.

The REC further posited that the earlier complaint was that they wanted to see the constituency collation form.

According to him, "But even when the form was brought, they did not still want the materials moved. So the police had to advise that for security reasons, the election should be suspended.

JONATHAN, WIFE FINALLY ACCREDITED WITH INCIDENT FORM

President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience Jonathan, have been accredited to vote with the use of the Incident Form, following the failure of the Card Readers to read their Permanent Voters Card, PVC.

It will be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan were not accredited after 30 minutes delay due to the failure of the card readers in their polling unit.

The president stood for more than 30 minutes with four card readers refusing to recognise his PVC.

He encouraged Nigerians to be patient with the process, insiting that the election will be free and fair.

“I encourage Nigerians to be patient, even if card readers have issues. Don’t instigate violence, "he said.

According to  Channels TV report, only 14 voters have been accredited at Otuoke polling unit of President Goodluck Jonathan as at 11:05am, two hours after the exercise started at the unit.

PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION: INEC FAILS TO ACCREDIT JONATHAN

Efforts by President Goodluck Jonathan to get himself accredited in his Otuoke home town this morning, hit the brick walls as he was rejected by the voter card reader.

President Jonathan apparently waited patiently to get further directive from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after trying three different card leaders without luck.

INEC says its officials will use an incident form to accredit authentic voters rejected by the card readers.

TIME FOR NIGERIA TO BE GREAT ONCE AGAIN- BUHARI

I want to take this last opportunity, before we go to the polls on Saturday March 28 and April 11 respectively, to thank everyone who has supported our campaigns.

I am humbled and grateful to have had the opportunity to meet so many of my fellow Nigerians who have helped to carry the message of change across our great country.

This is the fourth time that I would be standing for election as the President of Nigeria. All these years, I have been driven by a keen awareness of the potential greatness of our country and the desire to provide the true leadership that will unleash this huge potential.

I believe that a stable and prosperous Nigeria is not only important to Nigerians. It is also important to Africa and the rest of the world.

The evidence of this is the unprecedented attention that our country will receive this weekend.

On Saturday, the whole world would wait with baited breath for the greatest black nation on earth to take charge of its destiny.

We must therefore not miss the significance of this moment. We must not let ourselves and our country down.

At no other time in our history is Nigeria in such an urgent need of strong and competent leadership. Sadly, at no other time is this leadership so sorely absent in our country.

We live in a time of great opportunities and great peril. It is only a leader that understands these in equal measure that can find the rightful place for Nigeria among the great Nations of the world.

I have travelled extensively around Nigeria in the last three months. In the course of my travels, I encountered directly, what I have always believed: that a Hausa man’s desire for security is not different from the Ijaw woman’s desire to feel secured in any part of our country.

An Igbo woman’s desire for her children to get quality education and find employment is not different from the Yoruba man’s dream for his children to become a useful member of our society.

A wife’s desperate need for affordable and quality healthcare for her husband diagnosed with prostate cancer in Enugu is not different from a husband’s desire to save the life of his wife diagnosed with ovarian cancer in Lagos.

Invariably, our fears are the same; our dreams are the same; and our problems are the same. Regardless of the language we speak, or the way we understand and worship God, what affects anyone of us, affects everyone of us.

Our economy is celebrated as the largest in Africa, yet our country is home to the continent’s highest number of people living in extreme poverty.

Our youth population is larger than the combined population of many of our neighbours, yet our failure to plan and create opportunities for them is turning them to a social time bomb rather than economic catalysts.

A band of ragtag terrorist group has threatened our territorial integrity, killed thousands of Nigerians, displaced our people and abducted our children.

The almost 60, 000 Nigerians who have become refugees in neighbouring countries represent a budding threat to sub-regional stability.

However, even in the face of these daunting challenges, I see a great opportunity for change. We have to start by rebuilding the trust and confidence of Nigerians in their government. No citizen will respect a government under whose watch more than 200 girls were abducted.

This singular act can only portray the government as insensitive, incompetent or both. When I become president, reuniting these children with their families will, without doubts, be a top priority.

Rebuilding the army and other security agencies will also be a top priority of my government. I will ensure that never again will terrorists find a safe haven in Nigeria.

Recent fall in international price of crude leaves us badly exposed and vulnerable. Dwindling oil revenue also means that we are going to face serious financial challenges in the months ahead.

However, even as daunting as this appears, it also provides us with great opportunity to diversify our economy and finally give meaning to the widely held belief that our prosperity as a nation would not continue to depend on the resources buried under our feet, but on the productive capacity of our people.

No matter how much resources we have, if not properly utilised, it would only create a few billionaires and leave majority of our people in poverty.

Under the current administration, corruption has enjoyed unprecedented prosperity and this has been at the heart of most of our government failings, including insecurity, broken infrastructure and growing inequality in our country.

My government will have a zero tolerance for corruption. I will set a personal example and run a government that truly serves the people rather than serve themselves and a privileged few.

Like I have repeatedly maintained that if Nigeria does not kill corruption, corruption will kill Nigeria. We must not allow Nigeria to die.

Therefore, we must do all that is necessary to root out this evil that has reduced our great country to a laughing stock of the world. We must begin to rebuild the social fabrics of our society and teach a different experience to our youth in the values of hard work, discipline, integrity and service.

The change that I seek therefore; is a change from the current regime of mindless of corruption and profligacy; a change from fear and insecurity to peace and stability; a change from religious and ethnic divisiveness to unity, equity and justice.

This is the change that my party stands for. This is the change that I am committed to bringing about as President. Give me the chance to lead you in rebuilding a Nigeria that all of us can be proud of once again.

As we come out to vote on Saturday, I appeal to all Nigerians to shun violence in whatever form. It is the right of every adult Nigerian to vote and expect that their votes would count in a free, fair and credible election.

However, we also have a responsibility to respect the choice of others and grant them the same treatment that we expect.

I also want to call on all our men and women in uniform, the Judiciary, and all others who have constitutional responsibility to safeguard our democracy, to remember that their responsibility is primarily to Nigerians and the survival of Nigeria.

They must therefore not allow anyone to use them to subvert the will of the Nigerian people. I believe that their dreams and aspirations are not different from those of other Nigerians.

I have no doubt that with God being on our side; together we can make our country great once again.
