The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has accused the outgoing governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi of looting the treasury of the state, even as it warned civil servants allegedly collaborating with the defeated governor in carrying out the alleged looting.
The ruling party in a statement signed by its Ekiti State branch Secretary, Pastor Kola Oluwawole maintained that, "Those civil servants found to have assisted Fayemi's administration in the illegal employment and issuance of back dated letters of appointment will face disciplinary action when the new government is inaugurated."
The scribe also added that civil servants discovered to have helped the outgoing government to loot the treasury will face disciplinary action, with a further revelation that the outgoing governor recently directed a meeting of top civil servants held to come up with a supplementary budget for the local government election he had scheduled for end of this month.
Pastor Oluwawole also threatened that civil servants involved in the drawing up of the budget and release of money for the election will not go unpunished. The party Secretary also alleged that Governor Fayemi gave approval to various sums of money within a day with the papers being perfected by his civil servant collaborators.
He insisted that the outgoing governor alleged looting has amounted to about three billion naira within the last two weeks, with a further position that most of these money are been syphoned by the governor and his collaborators with impunity.
The party secretary specifically argued that a sum of N184,863,211.19, N406,293,791.08 and another N604 million was collected within a day for the purchase of furniture that would be used at the New Government House which is yet to be completed.
Pastor Oluwawole further alleged that Governor Fayemi made an approval to the tune of 1.9 billion naira for the procurement of medical equipment for Oba Rufus Adejugbe General Hospital Ado Ekiti all within one week.
According to him, "We’ve gathered that the government is planning to plunge Ekiti State into another round of bond chasing because of the intention of the outgoing Governor and his men to milk Ekiti dry before leaving the government in October
"We wonder why the APC government is doing this now that the people of Ekiti has rejected them by voting out Governor Kayode Fayemi in the June 21 election. It is unfortunate that what Fayemi determined to do in his second time in office which the people of Ekiti state has denied him he want to capture in the remaining three months that he will still be in office."
