An employee of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC),
Kennedy Ogbonna, has been arraigned by men of the NRC Police Command,
Ebute-Metta Lagos, South-West Nigeria, before a Lagos Chief Magistrate's Court,
sitting at Oyingbo over alleged selling of expired tickets for the train
passengers.
The defendant was alleged to have on June 26, at Mushin
Railway station, being in possession of some expired tickets which he was
selling to the intended passengers. He was arraigned on a threecount charge of
abuse of office, conspiracy and stealing.
The offences according to the prosecutor, Mr. Silas
Emannual, are punishable under Sections
73, 409, and 285 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2011.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges,
leading to the court presided over by Magistrate, Olatunji O., granteding him
bail in the sum of N100,000,00, with two sureties in like sum.
The matter has been adjourned till July 22, for mention.
