(NIGERIA) Following his alleged disappearance from the
state, the Enugu State House of Assembly on Thursday during its plenary
session, resolved to serve the Deputy Governor of the state, Mr. Sunday
Onyebuchi, his impeachment notice via substituted means.
The embattled Deputy Governor, who is facing impeachment
threat over alleged misconduct in office was last seen on Monday at a public

However, the state House of Assembly which read his
impeachment notice last Tuesday said since Onyebuchi is no where to be found,
he will be served through substituted
means.
According to Speaker of the Assembly, Eugen Odoh, the House
decided to adopt the substituted means because ” every means to serve the
Deputy Governor the impeachment notice by the Clerk of the House, Mr.
Christopher Amadi Chukwura failed to yield dividends because the deputy
governor could not be found to serve him the impeachment notice personally.
“The decision to adopt the substituted means came as a
result of the explanations given by the clerk of the house, Mr. Chukwura that
he tried on several occasions to serve the impeachment notice on the deputy as
he was directed to do by the House on Tuesday to no avail.
The lawmakers had during the plenary session yesterday
resolved to mandate the Clerk of the House, Chukwura to serve the impeachment
notice on the deputy governor by posting the impeachment notice at his official
residential quarters, his private residence at Savage Crescent, GRA, Enugu as
well as to post the offensive impeachment notice through his e-mail address.
Moving the motion for the substituted means, Leader of the
House, Hon. SK Ude Okoye, representing Awgu North stated thus, “the House do
hereby pass a resolution directing that the Deputy Governor be served the
impeachment notice by a substituted means.”
The members who came to the hallowed chambers in a tense and
charged atmosphere did not say much but concurred to the motion moved by the
leader of the house that a substituted means be adopted in serving the
impeachment notice.
