The police in Lagos has arraigned a 32-year-old man, Ahmed Adediran, before an Ikeja Magistrates Court over allegation of assault on an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Anaye David.
The defendant was alleged to have unlawfully assaulted David while armed with a bottle and a stick at Mile 12, Lagos. According to the charge designated MIK/B/139/2014, before Magistrate Abimbola Komolafe, the defendant committed the said offence with others already charged to Magistrate Court 2 on Charge No. MIK/B/117/2014.
But Adeniran pleaded not guilty to the charge leading to the presiding magistrate to grant him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. The magistrate equally directed that the sureties must be blood relations.
According to the prosecutor, ASP Nnamonu Ibekwe, the alleged offence offends and is punishable under Section 17 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
