The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Muhammed Abubakar, has
set up an investigation team to unveil those who were responsible for Wednesday
twin bomb blasts which rocked some parts of Kaduna Metropolis.
The blasts, which was targeted at Former Head of State,
General Muhammadu Buhari and prominent Islamic preacher, Sheikh Dahiru, killed
over 100 people, while scores sustained injuries.
In a release by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP
Frank Mba, the team of the investigators, which was expected to work in
collaboration with other security agencies, is headed by the Commissioner of
Police in charge of Legal Department, DCP Nwodibo Ekechukwu.
Other members are: DCP’s Chris Ezike of the Federal SARS,
Dan Mallam of the Monitoring Unit and Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi of the Interpol Unit
and others.
The statement said IGP has in the main time directed that
security should be beefed up in all states of the federation, particularly
those perceived to be more “vulnerable to terror attacks”.
The Police boss appealed to all Nigerians, particularly
Kaduna residents to remain calm, and called on the citizens to cooperate with
the security agencies by providing them with relevant information to battle
crime in the country.
