Late Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu |
(NIGERIA) Apparently in their moves to take possession of a
property left behind by their father, children of late Ikemba Nnewi and Biafran
warlord, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has filed two separate suits
against two Lagos base companies before a Lagos High Court sitting in Igbosere
through one of the deceased’s company, Ojukwu Transport Limited (OTL).
The two companies dragged before the court over a property
situated at 13, Alexander Avenue, Ikoyi are, Diplomat Investment Limited and
Clear Essence California Spa and Wellness Resort.
The transport company in the suit alleged that the lease
documents being relied upon by the companies over the property were allegedly
obtained without the knowledge, authority or consent of the claimant.
OTL consequently prayed the court to declare that the lease agreement
purported to have been granted by the claimant to the defendants and registered
as No. 62 at page 62 in volume 2211 at the Land Registry, Lagos, in respect of
the above-named property is null and void.
They also want the court to issue an order of injunction
restraining the defendants, its servants, agents or privies from in any way or
manner interfering with the claimant's possession of the property.
OTL equally wants an order granting immediate possession of
the property to OTL. Ojukwu's children also want an order setting aside the
lease agreement being relied upon by the defendants. It would be recalled that
early this year, OTL had withdrawn similar suit against “unknown persons"
on the same property.
