The United Nations’ Chief, Turkey Prime Minister and other world leaders on Saturday congratulated the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, over his election victory on March 28.
This is contained in a statement by the Director Media and Publicity, APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mallam Garba Shehu, on Saturday in Abuja.
The statement said the UN Secretary General, Ban-Ki Moon, and Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyep Erdogan, sent their best wishes to the president-elect.
Others according to the statement were Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Chadian President Idris Deby, Denis Sassou Nguesso of Congo Brazzaville, and Alfa Konde of Guinea.
Buhari also got calls from the Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta, former U.S. President Bill Clinton and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
According to the statement, the leaders also praised the peaceful nature of the election and its outcome.
It said Buhari gave assurance that Nigeria would act as a responsible member of the international community in conducting its affairs.
It called for support in dealing with global terror manifesting itself as Boko Haram in Nigeria.
